Two Micro-Poems

 

smooth stream
with one thought rippling
around a rock

 

 

the sun is up
but the mountain
keeps its head
under a white quilt

is a writer and assemblage artist who resides in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has master’s degrees in English and Communications and has taught for 32 years, the last 17 of which were at UNC Charlotte.

Mr. Settle has been awarded The Thomas McDill Award and The Poetry of Courage Award (both from the North Carolina Poetry Society), the Nazim Hikmet Poetry Award, and the Griffin-Farlow Haiku Award. He is the author of a chapbook, Maple Samaras (Wild Leek Press, 2018), and three books of poetry: The Backbone Alphabet (self-published via Xlibris, 2017) and two published by Main Street Rag, The Teleology of Dunes (2015) and Coming to Attention: developing the habit of haiku (2016).
