Bookending

 

Cavernous bookshops and labyrinthine libraries beguile and dazzle in equal measure. What a dream to be a librarian! A Minister of Books.

bedtime conquers bathtime
head pains my poor heart
stories burst into life

Battered bookcases and crumbling bookshelves offer secondhand delights. Bibles, bestiaries, and biographies satisfy a thirst for knowledge. The book evolves to survive.

wonder trumps belief
pages fall as dust
letters breaking through

is a writer based in the UK, whose poems, haibun, and flash fiction have been published in CERASUS Magazine; Drifting Sands Haibun; Volumes Five and Six of the Flash Fiction Festival Anthology; Orbis Journal; and Sarasvati Magazine. His debut pamphlet, The death of the sentence, was published in 2020. His first collection of poetry and flash fiction, The Dystopia Factory, was published in 2023, and he was longlisted for the Cerasus Poetry Pamphlet Competition in 2024.
