Staking His Claim

It’s what most of us wish for: a long life filled with more accomplishments than failures. More hope than fear. More love than hatred. A century-old balance sheet where the pros overwhelmingly outnumber the cons. It’s been little more than a month since the 39th President of the United States expressed his wish to live long enough to add another milestone to his life list by casting his vote for a woman who had the capacity to chart a future path for the America he believed in. Jimmy Carter lived to cast that vote as his last act of service. Regardless of the outcome, that act—like yours, like mine—remains worth living for.

still life ...
the sure passage of time
as night turns to day
