summer sun 

	backroad tarmac 
	shimmering 
	mile after mile 

on the cabin’s steep roof 

	vacation gale 
	the angle of desire 
	backsliding 

scent of pine needles 

	dappled light 
	on the forest floor 
	masking our missteps
