Before the Bustle

The sky is bluing,
but lights in the fountain
still glow yellow;

streetlamps spotlight the sign
mounted on the building.

Inside the entry,
early morning light shines
through windows, doors.

But the day is dripping,
rippling in the fountain—

you can hear the seconds.
