Ships of the Desert

 

The two camels tethered to the side of their trailer would rather be elsewhere. It’s a chilly spring morning in the Mojave, and they’re already saddled, waiting for what their owners hope will be an influx of families at the open-air market. A hand-lettered sign reads Camel Rides $15 No Refunds. One of the creatures lets out bellow after bellow.
