She gets a sly kick from secreting copies of Twilight around their house, collecting dog-eared paperbacks with cracked spines from garage sales and thrift stores, slipping them onto pantry shelves, inside pillowcases, his briefcase, the freezer, holding in her laughter so tight she turns pink whenever he finds one, asking him straight-faced, “How’d that get there” and her foreplay goes on like that for weeks, months, until one night it dawns on him how to play, and he strips naked, douses himself in glitter, and waits for her to come home, flip on the bedroom lights, and see him sparkle.
