The morning’s a table
laid out for our pleasure,
with coffee on a timer,
beans ground and measured.
The sun drips like butter
through slits in the blinds,
licks two spooned torsos,
limbs tangled like vines.
But something is missing—
the eggs? the pork?
Before we rise and shine,
I think we need a fork.
