MacQueen’s Quinterly: Knock-your-socks-off Art and Literature
Issue 12: March 2022
Micro-Poem: 46 words
By R W Mayer

After W.C.W.

So much depends
upon

the hands
that pull weeds
from the garden

picking the berries
one by one

pulling the toddler
up to his
feet

scratching the
ears of an anxious dog

spreading the
shawl
across old shoulders

until the melody begins.
