This year, editors of literary magazines were invited to nominate up to five micro stories for the sixth annual Best Microfiction anthology. Given all the wonderful stories that Clare MacQueen published in MacQ in 2023, narrowing her choices to only five seemed impossible. Though it was painful to leave out an equal number of favorites, she’s delighted to nominate this quintet of micros:

“Marie-Antoinette’s Nose” by Donna Shanley was selected by final judge Grant Faulkner for publication in the Best Microfiction 2024 anthology.
