MacQueen’s Quinterly: Knock-your-socks-off Art and Literature
Updated: 4 Feb. 2024

Welcome

Thanks so much for dropping by. At MacQueen’s Quinterly (aka MacQ), you’ll find a smorgasbord of memorable works of art and literature, in forms and genres like these:

  •  Prose poetry
  •  Flash and microfiction
  •  Essays and creative nonfiction
  •  Poetry, both free verse and structured
  •  Photographs, paintings, sculpture, textile arts & more
  •  Hybrids: cheribun, haibun, haiga, taiga, photo-poems, etc.

MacQ is an online journal only and freely available to anyone with internet access. We primarily publish literary works that are no longer than a thousand words each (a limit we stretch to 5,000 words, including footnotes, for critical essays, interviews, and reviews).

Short forms are deceptively difficult to write well, and although they take only a few minutes to read, the best resonate far longer than that. Perhaps for a lifetime. We’re dedicated to publishing such gems—please dive in to see the latest we’ve found for you.

From founding editor, Clare MacQueen:

My heartfelt gratitude (!) to MacQ contributors and readers, lovely folks all. I deeply appreciate your ongoing support of this little journal and your visits here. Please continue to drop by often, and ask your friends, family, and colleagues to do the same.

And feel free as well to share links on social media to KYSO Flash, the Quinterly’s “older sister,” whose 12 issues are archived online (a total of ~1300 pieces, including about 300 artworks).

A toast to health and happiness:
May your troubles be few and your blessings be more!
